A Little Owl for a Little Girl

Remember the elephants for Iris?
I made this adorable little owl with the leftover yarn for a Christmas present for a family friend's baby girl:

Isn't she cute? I fell in love with her immediately. I bought the pattern to make a friend an owl for her nursery, but decided to make a practice owl first. Thus, the little pink owl was created.

I changed the eyes in the pattern. Freshstitches (where I bought the pattern) uses 12mm plastic eyes for her owls for kids over 3 and she crochet's little black eyes for babies. I decided to use felt and I think it gave her a lot of personality! I also used a D 3.25 mm hook, instead of the size G 4.50mm or H 5.00mm hook the designer recommended, so the owl ended up being 6" instead of 7.5".

I think I'll be making many of these in the future! (and I will be a little sad to part with the "pink starburst" owl....)

Lily and James (not Potter)

This summer my best friend's kids celebrated birthdays. Lily turned 1 in June, and James turned 3 a few weeks after Andrew! I decided to make them something for their birthdays this year.

I made this cute blue guy for James. I was sad to let him go, but it was SO worth it when I got a call from Emily, and James got on to thank me. He was so excited!

I made another little elephant, but this one was for Lily. It turned out okay, but I have decided that I don't like this pattern that much. I'm going to make up my own elephant pattern in the future. 

I've been working on a lot of things lately and I've learned a LOT. My amigurumi's are getting better and better and I've learned a lot of great techniques! Expect better quality things in the future!

Pumpkins

Our friend, Ashley, loves pumpkins. She just moved into a new place, so I decided to make her some pumpkins as house warming gifts. The great thing about these pumpkins for all of the pumpkin lovers out there is they won't die! Yay! You can even wash them if they get dusty!

I made up my own pattern for the small one and used Planet June's pumpkin pattern for the bigger one. I actually like the little pumpkin more than the big one.

I think I'll make a few more of these pumpkins to put around our house to decorate for fall. Maybe I'll put a few felt faces on some for Halloween, too!

Andrew's Dragon

My oldest son loves the movie How to Train Your Dragon. My husband had been working on making him a night fury for quite awhile and decided to finish it for Andrew's third birthday. I thought it would be fun if Andrew had another dragon to play with, too, so I decided to crochet one.

I found the most amazing pattern online and went to town. I took only 3 days and was ready a few days before he turned 3.

I love the way this dragon turned out! The pattern was amazing and I had no problems with it at all. I really love the yarn I used; I think it gives the dragon a scaly look! Andrew plays with his dragons all the time and we can even hear him play with them as he falls asleep.
